Ever since the play's creation in the 1980s, Les Misérables has risen up from a short-lived musical sung in French found in Paris, France to one of the most highly-awarded and fan favorite shows in the entire world. Over the last 40 years that this stunning show has been running, Les Misérables has been performed in 53 countries, in 22 different languages, and has been drawing in more and more theatergoers all over the world.
In November, the musical’s tour brings it to a new location in Des Moines, where the celebrated musical will be hosted in Des Moines Civic Center on Friday 14th November 2025. Des Moines Civic Center was purposefully created and constructed as the favorite entertainment venue of Des Moines, housing well-executed interior, from stage to seats, that is large enough to hold a play of this standard, as well as adequate facilities that are contained inside the theater.
Les Misérables is all about the tale of Jean Valjean, an ex-convict distressingly wanting to start anew after he gets away from the chain gang. His whole story, and his ultimate fate, are performed sung-through entirely from the beginning to the final act of the incredible show. The Broadway musical being sung from start to finish is a unique characteristic that this show has over other known theater productions, and is the primary reason why each minute of the play never fails in its objective of in every sentence or lyric performed.
It's no wonder that because of this manner, Les Misérables is also overflowing with impressive ballads and anthems. Interestingly, even with the collection of songs that can be heard in the show, every single cast member in the stage adaptation is given a chance to shine, with each discrete ballad revealing a deeper sense of their character. Not one single person who has attended Les Mis can stop thinking about Fantine’s “I Dreamed A Dream”, which carries with it a heavy heart and has been covered countlessly by other artists in contemporary cinema. “Bring Him Home” also passionately moves viewers to tears all the time, unveiling the selfless heart of Valjean's character in just one absolutely stunning number.
